Abraha was the ruler of Yemen. He built a magnificent church in Yemen and announced to the people of Yemen that no one should go to Makkah for Hajj and consider this church as Bait Allah. This announcement caused a wave of anger among the Arab people. Then one of them went to this church at night and spread dirt. When Abraha came to know this, he prepared a large army and marched towards Makkah. On the way, several Arab tribes tried to stop him. But they were defeated by Abraha’s army. Finally, this army reached a place near Makkah. The next morning when he wanted to proceed towards Bait Allah. So his elephant refused to move forward. At the same time, a flock of strange birds came from him and swarmed over the army. Each bird had three pebbles in its beak. which they started raining on the people of Lashkar. These stones tore the bodies of the army men.Seeing this punishment, all the elephants ran away. Some of the soldiers of the army were killed and some who escaped died on the way. Abraha’s body was so poisoned that one of its joints began to rot and fall.In this condition he was brought to Yemen. There the blood flowed from all over his body and expired. His death was most tragic. Two of his elephants were left in Makkah. who became crippled and blind. In this way Allah protected His house and made those who were proud of their power taste the punishment. In Surah Fail of the Holy Qur’an, Allah described this incident as follows.”Have you not seen what your Lord did to the elephants?” Did not make their Capricorn useless? And sent upon them flocks of flocks of birds. Who were hitting them with mud and stone pebbles. So he made them like straw that has been eaten.”
